haan toh prob kya hai?? :P
k luk at this:
for an equiconvex lens, R=2f......(1)
Also by lens makers formula,
1/f= (μ-1) [1/R + 1/R] = (μ-1)[2/R] = (μ-1)[2/2f] = (μ-1)[1/f]
=> (μ-1) = 1
i.e μ=2 !!!!!!
what was my mistake?

there is no question, i wz just tryin to relate R=2f and the lens maker's formula

so for R to be equal to 2f, μ has to be = 2?? all kinds of equiconvex lenses have R=2f...for glass lenses μ is 1.5 say, then using lens makers formula and R=2f we get
1/f = (.5)1/f !!
my problem is why can't we substitute R=2f in lens maker's n still get a valid relation??

ahhh..dat's wot i wanted to kno..
so it's not applicable for lenses??
