This question is quite easy,but i have a confusion in finding out which is the major product and which is minor!

I think 'Br' attached to second carbon atom will be d major product... not sure though, but i think i'm rite...!!!

first clarify my doubt prateek... in SN1 mechanism, will there be migration/transfer of positive charge formed on d compound...?

yes it can be if there is any other suitable/stable place for it...

now clear my doubt.... the second position u mentioned earlier is which second one from right or from left....

now, first the OH- group will be replaced by Br- group... this will give one product...

else, the positive charge formed after OH- group leaves, will migrate or transfer to d first carbon atom and then Br- will react... this will give second product...

but i'm unable to decide d stable product... infact, i haven't read alcohols from a long time, so dont remember anything... [2]
