try converting the initial compound to cyclopropanone and then it is simple application of grignard !

this is not a benzene ring that only the side chain will get oxidise on application of KMnO4 .....what is the guarantee that the middle ring will be unaffected and the other two will be dismantled ?

Try adding Ozone/Zn granules to it. I think the two side chains should get removed by that one.
