its the reaction of quaternary ammonium hydroxide , which is an unstable ion , as + charge is on more electronegative ion i.e. N.

dude, think in simple terms.

S is less electronegative than N , thus its +ve power sustaining ability is more than N. thus, its less reactive than species involving N.

Q.2) not sure , but it seems d) from the locations of carbonyl group.
