richa i can give u another explanation for the reason for the ans is c.
in the option C the product is formed by the elimination of the hydrogen at the saturated Carbon .therefore the C-H bond is weaker when compared to the bond --C-H therefore it is easy to break the C-H bond.pls reply richa if i blabbered .

Richa i was talking about this
och3-
by any chance is it a bulky base
then obviously the hoffman product C would be coming?????
wait subash is it dat much bulkier base to give hofmans product.??????????
neways hofmans product is c.
i think de same reason was given in my last post.tx for posting this sky.i want to confirm whether i was rite or rong.
a and c can be formed but c is more stable due to resonance so c is the major product. but wat is the ans richa.
CH3O- is a good nucleophile
and goes via SN2in CH3OH medium
copyright my notes
tell me if u wanna table for it
ans is c only @sankara c is not at all resonance stablized @mani sn2 does not give elimination
