''COncept says that we have +I effect if we have atom which is MORE ELECTRON DONATIONG THAN HYDROGEN''
What does that mean ?
Do u doubt that H3C--- has +I effect??
We were being taught about BENZENE SUBSTITUENTS EFFECT ON ITS REACTIVITY-An INDUCTIVE APPROACH!
My teacher said it is quite obvious that "INDUCTIVELY" methyl group donates electrons to benzene ring!
My doubt:How obvious is that?Carbon is certainly more elecronegative than Hydrogen, ain't it?

For me its like a FACT...can u explain it??...on pauling scale Carbon is about 0.4 more Electronegative than H.So,how can u accept it has +I effect?
dekho...
In C-H bond the electron is pulled from H and gets accumulated on C
So, in CH3 there is lot of negative charge on C
Also sp2 hybridised C in benzene is lot more electronegative than sp3 hybridised C in CH3.
Thus the electron cloud shifts towards benzene ring or in other words CH3 donates electrons to the benzene ring! :)
I would prefer going to BITS Pilani with my current rank instead of an IIT...
In fact, I will be forced to choose BITS with no good option in IITs..
So that is not a "typical" IITian....
Yeah that's what my "not-so-hard" work deserved I guess! [1]
