The axial bond pairs suffer more repulsion as compared to the equitorial bond pairs .in pcl5 the two axial bonds are longer than the three equitorial bonds
In PCl5, all the P-Cl bonds are not identical-why?
even tho there r no lone pair.

is it due2 s p difference . but in hybridysation s an p combines an bcam sam in lengthhh .so does hybridisation oCCur or wat><><><><><><><???????

Here you have to consider the shape of orbital
let it be s, px, py, pz, dz2
there is no contribution of dz2 on xy plane
xy plane contribution is due to s, px, py only which is sp2 contribution (trigonal)
In plane perpendicular to xy there is contribution of s, pz, dz2 whose contribution is along Z axis
thats why the P-Cl bond are not identical
3 along one plane are identical and two perpendicular to this plane are identical
there are bond pair-bond pair repulsions tooo in this world dear...........so dont just see LP only............
using these things and hybridisation........u can easily ur answer.....
using NMR you get that the bonds are of equal length but using electron microscopy , we can prove that the bonds are of different length .
this is bcoz NMR gives you a average of a few μs , but e- microscopy gives instantaenous picture. an b/w manish thanks for explanation da. dint know that.
