your fears are genuine..
You have to keep making isomers..
there are some formulas but they dont work and are generally useless. I have never used them, nor do I suggest anyone to use them.

That formula also fails a lot of times. Even in very simple 2 chiral center cases!
I wud again advice you not to use that formula and do it logically.
I know it is painful and direct formulas are like heaven ;)
but it is safe to do it by first principle.
