a=vinyl
b=Allyl
c=Methyl
c>a>b
Indicate the bond energies of C-H bonds indicated by a, b ,c in ascending order.
Please give reasons.
Bond Hydrocarbon radical Bond Dissociation Energy (kcal/mole)
CH3-H Methyl 103
CH2=CH-H vinyl 112
CH2=CHCH2-H Allyl 88
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carbon-hydrogen_bond
bond dissociation energy of methyl is always greater than the allyl group..
and obviously c has highest ..
so b<c<a is true
Can someone please give the reason why this is so that B-E of methyl > allyl > vinyl ??????
aveek.. u try reasoning out dude... the ease of removal of hydrogen...
then u can get the asnwer yourself :)
