The total no. of optical isomers of the following compound are-
Can somebody mark the chiral atoms plz? I got them as 5. If we go for the formula for no. of optical isomers, they will be way greater than 9......
P.S.: This question is an integer answer type question.

yup there r 5 chiral carbons........
u cant use the formula directly as some will be repeated
u need to check them...
hint : dont count chiral centres randomly, identify that the configuration of few carbon atoms is already given. like for example they have already given the geometry of all the double bonds.
similarly ek me H upar aur OH niche deke rakha hai . But if they want to say that the configuration is already given, then their representation is wrong , as the bonds should be shown with wedges and dash lines

wrong....I think there is some problem with this question....one of the expert teacher in organic chem told that there are 10 stereogenic centres!!!
However the answer given is 23 which means 3 chiral atoms.
