subash do you have anything to discuss?

i mean i was doin some physics ......lets do physics today !

or will continue this stuff tomorow !!

what do you say ?

1
? ·

yes !... siddhart !!

anyhow the mightier will survive !

its the law of nature !

the weak is indeed replaced by the strong ! :)

in this case its nucleophile !

Subash ·

so can we start for today

1
? ·

yup sankar ...even OH- is a better base !

msp ·

am i rite or rong unique

Siddharth ·

You are absolutely wrong.
Let me reproduce from the text book.

"(5) In nucleophilic substitution reactions basicity of leaving group should be less than the basicity of incoming nucleophilic group. Thus strong basic nucleophilic group replaces weakly basic nucleophilic group of the substrate"

Modern Organic Chemistry by Jagadamba Singh ---page 212

there are many . I'll only tell why . if it's a strong base it prefers to abstract a protn than go and attack somehwere hope u got it.

kkkkkk

unique anna OH- is a good nucleophile than HS-

BECOS THE MOLECULE SHUD LIKE

Subash ·

ya rite tomorrow nite same time i will come with some thing to discuss as well

1
? ·

so did u guys gain any ??

we will continue it tommorow with some interesting things !!

after all discussion plays a major role in JEE :)

Harry Potter ·

iam (very)1/0 poor in chemistry so i wnat to gain some information through this discussion

11
Subash ·

i am (very)infinfiy poor in chemistry

i joined this discussion just because i thought i could learn something from this

Harry Potter ·

ayyo pawam pedhichirikunathu kando picill.........

1
? ·

subash for the sake of discussion ! :)

i am very very very very very very very very very very poor in chemistry !!

hehe .. even worst than this !

1
Harry Potter ·

ok unique

1
? ·

throw the bonds away prajith!!

hehe ...the second reason was healthy though!

good work !

11
Subash ·

itz okay they are different terms

but one can atleast say nucleophilicity is proportional to basicity

btw r u asking these questions as doubts or discussions

1
? ·

prajith ofcourse it is !! if OH isnt stronger then , obviously HS is !!

intelligent boy ! :)

but reason please !

3
msp ·

charged ions can attack the positively charged atom more effectively than the uncharged ones

3
msp ·

unique anna check my ans

1
Harry Potter ·

wats wrong unique..........

3
msp ·

ok unique then the

order will be RO->RCOO->ROH > RCOOH

a good nucleophile is one which has more tendency to attack the positive charged ion.

the alkoxide ion have more electron density than other molecule and therefore it has the more probability to attack an electrophilic center becos negative charge will spread more over the molecule

1
? ·

u are wrong guys !! ...thats why i did post this one !!

please ponder over !

1
Harry Potter ·

yes Srinath thats the order.........

1
voldy ·

RCOO - > RO- >RCOOH > ROH

1
voldy ·

wekaer bases make better nucleophiles.

1
Harry Potter ·

yes R-0 rite unique wats the problem

1
? ·

sankara reconsider ur answer !

1
prateek punj ·

i agree with sankara.....
