Thermoplastic polymers can be melted again and again without any change while a thermosetting polymer can be heated only once whence it undergoes a permanent change and sets into a solid which cannot be remelted and reworked.
Thermoplastics are linear or slightly branched chain polymers while thermosettings are highly cross linked polymers(explaining their solid structure).
