The first product A is formed because the terminal hydrogen of ethyne is acidic. A => H-C≡C-MgBr and the byproduct is methane.
Then the Grignard is used in the standard way to produce a carboxylic acid. B is H-C≡C-COOH.
The next reaction focusses on hydration and tautomerization of the alkyne part. C is H3C-C(=O)-COOH.
Not sure what D would be...don't remember Ag2O action.
