In a there is a hemiacetal..
but in b no hemiacetal...
so a will reduce tollens reagent.

see if the anomeric carbons of the two monosaccharides are attached then the disaccharide is non-reducing . if not then it's reducing.

see in a on the last carbon their is oh group which on resonace give free aldehyde group so it will give tollens test
