common man someone explain it!!
the reactivity of SN1 increases with the stability of carbocation where as that of nucleophilic addition rxn decreases with stability of carbocation??

Tumhara matlab jaise jab methyl groups attached hote hain C=O pe, nucleophilic addition kam hota hai...
In a sense this is correct. More stable(read : more substituted) the carbocation formed by electromeric effect, lesser is the chance of nucleophilic addition.
Rather than checking the stability of carbocation, we check the steric hindrance of the C atom involved for nucleophilic addition, because electromeric effect is temporary and occurs in presence of reagent.
Electromeric effect and carbocations are diff...should not be judged together.
