i found the following priority for selecting functional grps thru net
1] Carbocations
2] Carboxylic acid
3] Acid anhydride
4] Esters
5] Acyl halides
6] Amides
7] Nitriles
8] aldehydes
9] Ketones
10] Alcohols
11] Thiols
12] Amines
13] Ether
14] Sulphides
15] Alkenes
16] Alkynes
17]alkanes
18] Alkyl halides
19] Nitro grp
so we can seenitrile grp > OH grp > Br grp , for selecting functional grp
pls tell if there is any correction in it
i thought phenol is a characteristic group by itself and hence ans shuld be A
but many ppl say B :(
No dear...
Priority grp is used for the parent chain name...
Otherwise only lowest set of locants is considered!
why shudn't it be D? please help...im really confused on this...
our chem sir says it shud be D bcoz priority of OH > Br...and lowest set of locants will not be used since different functional groups are present. lowest set of locants is used only to choose numbering for similar groups..
yoyo! yeh bhii sahiin!
aaj shayaad targetiit main mujhe sab khush khabre hiin mil rahe hain
