oh yeah din see that
assumed that CH3COOH is weak and then wrote that down
100ml, of CH3COOH is titrated against 0.2NaOH. which is/are coreect statements?
a. ph>7, at equivalence point
b. ph<7 at 3/4th equivalence point
c.ph<7 at equivalence point
d. ph>7 when 80ml of NaOH is added

at equivalence point, it is completely converted into its conjugate base.
so pH>7
Also pH=pKa+log[salt]/[acid]
at 3/4th equivalence point
pH=pKa+log3 which is less than 7
so a and b are the correct answers
manish sir,
wont (d) be correct as well
because with 80ml NaOH the mix. will have much more OH- ions
Actually the concentration of acid is not given.
So I din't consider the options with volumes
one more thing to note
pH is greater than 7 only when it is very very close to equivalence point
yes, it is unreasonable to give the answer as (d) without knowing actual values of volumes and concentrations.
Yes,
just at equivalent point the pH canges abruplty isnt it?
Can you please prove it?
@sir
I didnt understand thsi statemnt
pH=pKa+log3 which is less than 7
how ?
