Dekho....ab matlab yeh samajh aa riya hai ki...
When we will add Pb(CH3COO)2 in HNO3,,,it will precipitate, but in water it will not.
Toh water mein zyaada soluble hua naa....?

u see....ppt forms with conc HNO3....................
while u said it for dilute HNO3.............
so for dilute HNO3..........see #3..........
for conc. HNO3.........see #11...........
tats the only thing tat came in my mind...........
thx eure........

answer appeared to be water finally......but i just read something....
""Addn of dil HNO3 to a saturated soln of PbS increases its solublity by a big factor"
is it valid of acetate too ??if yes then its solublity may overtake water

I was also confused with tht fr a while :)
But see agar hum BaCl2 ko H2SO4 mein daalenge aur BaSO4 ka white ppt aayega,, toh kya yeh bolenge ki Barium chloride H2SO4 mein dissolve ho gaya..?? Nahi naa...?
Oh sry, didn't see ur last reply.
@eure: Toh its Water only then, finally.

ohh sry....aise hi bol diya..par mera doubt hai..ppt toh kisi aur cheez ka ban raha hai......toh soluble kyu nahi kahenge??????

Arrey, acetates toh paani mein soluble hote hain yaar...yeh kya cheez hai; never heard..!

par wate mein Pb(CHCOO)2 ka ppt ban jayega...........

yeah me too thinks it must be b

rickde
·2010-04-07 03:50:17
oh...i missed that.....its in Qualitative
so.....Pb+→ ppt.......(more then in water)
acetate→acetic acid.....so no chance of recombining.............so ans b

Ek min... see wiki
More commonly, lead(II) nitrate is obtained by dissolving lead(II) oxide, which is readily available as a mineral, in aqueous nitric acid:
PbO (s) + 2 H+ (aq) → Pb2+ (aq) + H2O (l)
In either case, since the solvent is concentrated nitric acid (in which lead(II) nitrate has very low solubility) and the resulting solution contains nitrate ions, anhydrous crystals of lead(II) nitrate spontaneously form:
Pb2+ + 2 O−
3 → Pb(NO3)2 (s)
Matlab Pb(NO3)2 will also be a ppt !!

@ avik...in lab.during practicals...Pb+ ko pani me dalne par ppt mila tha kya????
nahi...........ab toh apan ko experimental observation bhi pata hai..........

kahe ka confusion water kitna kam ionise hota hai......
1
rickde
·2010-04-07 03:37:29
@ pKw=10-14.........kitna kam -OH hoga...............compare tat wit the H+ given by HNO3
ans must be b...
WRONG

hmmm yaa....thats also a point....
so confusion b.w a,b still exists

But, with OH-, Pb2+ will have a tendency to precipitate as Pb(OH)2,
This will drive the dissociation of lead acetate forward, so i think it'll be a) fr Qn2).

rickde
·2010-04-07 03:29:03
water will not drive acetic acid equilibrium as much as HNO3
HNO3 ke paas jyada H+ hai....
24
eureka123
·2010-04-07 03:24:19
water will also giev H+ and OH-

·2010-04-07 03:19:32
in option c and d ...common ion effect shud decrease solubility........
HNO3 will give H+....so CH3COO-
will be dirven backwards to CH3COOH.....so it cannot recombine to form Pb(CH3COO)2
so ans must be b..........
