1).85g Mn(7+)=Mn(2+)......in acidic medium 3).M/1
Q1. What weight of KNO2 will be oxidised by 20ml of 0.2M KMnO4 in acidic medium?
Q2. 7.45 g KCl was heated with excess MnO2 and H2SO4. The gas so produced was then passed through a solution of KI. Wt, of I2 liberated is ______

1. me. of KMnO4=20*0.2*5=20
me. of KNO2=20
mm of KNO2=20/2=10
Wt.=10*85/1000=0.85 g
2. mole of KCl=0.1
mole of gas produced=0.05
moles of I2=0.05
Wt. of I2=254*0.05=12.7 g
3. eq. wt.=2M/3
1/n(effective)=1/n1+1/n2
manish sir, or avinav..
can u post the reactions for Q2??
btw ans for 1 was given as 0.17g (isiliye dbt hua)
thx for replying
manish sir's ans are corect,,
Q4. A mix. of 6g Carbon, 16g O2 (g) and 4g H2 (g) is given. The mix is completely treated to form H2CO3
The volume of remaining gaseous reactant at NTP after reaction is x*22.4 L
then find x..... note: x is a fraction
Q5. wud u call this reaction as disproportionation?
HCl + K2Cr2O7 --> KCl + CrCl3 + Cl2 + H2O
Q6. 0.8g of ACO3.xH2O is dissolved in 100 ml of water, 20 ml of which required 20 ml of 0.1 N HNO3. Value of x is (M.Wt of ACO3 is 106)
sem element undergoing both oxdn and redn is said to disproportionate toh????
or is it retaining sem oxdn no in 1 and changing in other??
However its given, for example, Na2O (ON=+1) disproportionates at 4000C to form Na2O2 (ON=+1) and Na (ON=0).....
so if this is true then ans given is true...
@ASISH=I CANT FIGURE OUT HOW Q1..HAS 0.17g AS ANS....
FO Q2. U DONT REQ. ANY KIND OF RXNS....JUST COMPARE MEQ. OF THE COMPDS...
@LALIT =EXPLAIN /SHOW CALC
question 6 is of 9th standard but i will solve it.
ans 6- equivalent of HNO3=equivalent of ACO3.XH20
valency of ACO3.xH2o=2
by solving we get x=3
4) 2C + 3O2 + 2H2 --------> 2H2CO3
Initial Resp. moles- 1/2, 1/2, 2
Oxygen is the limiting reagent, so finally resp. moles left- 1/6, 0, 5/3.
Hydrogen is the only gaseous reac. left.
Hence... x=5/3.
thanks avik..
even i got that
butt the options were (a) 0 (b) 2/3 (c) 3/4 and (d) 3/2
@ avinav.,..
how do i compare the meq if i dunno the products n-factor???
