in chemical adsorption unimolecular layer is formed .........but according to langmuir assumption adsorptions starts only when one molecular layer is there ...then chemical adsorption won't take place.......... please explain

well, sumeet, let me make it a bit clear.
according to langmuir's assumption,a dynamic equilibrium exists between adsorption in forward and backward phase.thus desorption takes place simultaneously. but,he also stated that the gas adsorbed forms unimolecular layer on solid surface; but,we know, unimolecular layer is formed in chemisorption and chemisorption doesn't support desorption.
thus u might be thinking its controversial.

but the biggest assumption made by langmuir is the existence of dynamic equillibrium; as this equilibrium exists, this controversy happens

i was having the same doubt some months ago;but got it cleared, thanks to akand and eureka
