get ur basics cleared..
It is flat IITJEE level..and exam is JEE types..
Not at all difficult .. but u need to have adequate knowledge of each topic...
And for the REAL olympiad feel..
I ll suggest the book from ARIHANT publications called "Physics Olympiads"
A collection of many Phy Olympiad sums plus some "not-so-much-needed" theory which is good to know! [1]

yup .. agree with subhomoy
NSEP is purely JEE level .. except a certain few everything can be solved by JEE aspirants. Even the subjective part is easy enough.
The reason why most people are unable to get through NSEP is because of time management. There are just too many questions and the time given is limited.
NSEP has two sections - objective and subjective
For selection, your score in the objective section is first calculated. If you cross a particular cutoff then your subjective marks are included and then the merit list is decided.
So you should have speed as well as accuracy there. First try and get as many objective questions solved in the first hour. If you feel that you have got about 65-70% correct then attempt the objective questions in the last half hour or so.
For Inpho (second round of NSEP) on the other hand, you will need to practice a few olympiad type problems .. but based on my experience even that is really not much needed .. you just need to be extra careful about the details given in the question.

Well i think ''physics olympiad '' by arihant should only be used as a source of qstn s of various olympiads.otherwise the book is in short useless. The best book to start with is H.C Verma. I.E Irodov is a brilliant book. Spending time with problems of Irodov really helps more than any thing. 200 puzzling problems in physics is also a very good book. but i have only solved 4-5 qstns from that book. some qstns there are slightly changed version of irodov problems (but they r very very few). nishant sir told me a book called princeton problems in physics , but i think it's not at all for undergraduates (it has problems on quantum mechanics and other hi-fi stuff ,may be i hv seen the wrong book;P)

so if a person is in class 11 or 12 (and havent start preparing for iit jee ) he should first solve HC Verma Part 1 and then Hc Verma Part 2 .Next he should think of Irodov And 200 problems in physics and Princeton problem collection and Arihant ??????

yeah for NSEP , HCV 1 & 2 are enough .. for subsequent rounds Irodov, Arihant will come in handy
