So whats the answer
This is a good question from Resnick Halliday
Those who can will do it in a flash otherwise keep thinking for the whole day and you wont get it ;)
Find the maximum heap (Height) that sand can make in a circle of radius of R.
Coefficient of friction between sand particles is k.
Assume sufficient friction between sand and ground!

I will give a total guess.cuz i don't wanna waste my whole day in futile thinking. Is it √R2 -L2 , where L is the slant ht of the cone so formed
2 things
1) R<L .. so your quantity is -ve
2) You even then had to find L.. L is not given!
I think everyone's done trying.Sir u can tell the answer now..Pls!!!!!!!!!!!
Since the system is balanced.....
therefore max height h/R = tanθ
but by def. tanθ=k, since θ is the angle of repose..
therefore....h=R*tanθ
or h=R*k....
i think this should be the answer?
