A filled water bottle is lying on the ground. You pick it up and put it on a table which is at some height from the ground. Thus the potential energy of the bottle increases. Does the internal energy of the water molecules increase? Give reasons for your answer.

Work is done against the gravitational force and the potential energy is being stored as gravitational potential energy....I don't think so it has anything to do with the internal energy of molecules...Whats the answer???
- Soumyadeep Basu I think your reasoning is right.Upvote·0· Reply ·2013-09-26 06:17:12
- Anik Chatterjee yes..because the work being done is not at all related with internal energy..
