$Determine the minimum value of the expression:\\\\ $A =x^2-10xy+27y^2-8y+8.$\\\\ For what values of $x,y$ take the minimum value of the expression A.

Rearrange the givene expression to get -

A = ( x - 5 y ) 2 + 2 ( y - 2 ) 2

So , the least A can take is " 0 " since it is a sum of two squares . Also we see that " 0 " is achievable for ; y = 2 and correspondingly , x = 5 y = 10 .
