silly doubt but needs a answer...please help...

If I hav a misconception please clear

let Z be a complex no. = 2+3i...
in Argands plane the coordinate of the complex no. is (2,3i)

now we know that modulus of z = r that is the distance of the coordinate from origin....
now
r=√x2+y2
where x and y are 2 and 3i
then r shud be √22+(3i)2
but is it given only√22+32

why???

wat?

if z = x + iy then x and y are real numbers and are known as real and img. parts resp.
modulous of z = |z| = √[(real part)2 + (img part)2] = √(x2 + y2)
