It says tht 5% of "all the bulbs manufactured" are defective.....
Like if 500 were made in all, defective = 25. But tht doesn't preferably mean tht each lot of 100 has exactly 5 defective..
1) 5% of all bulbs made by a manufacturing company are defective. A lot contains 100 bulbs.
Find probability tht 6 are defective.
Won't the ans be this simply- 100C6(1/20)6(19/20)94 ?
Ans given : 100C6(1/20)100
2) 60 dice are thrown together. Find the probability tht the sum of all the no.s appeared is 180.
(Just need 2 verify my answer)
3)This one, help needed :
In a factory, tems produced pass thro' an inspestion table.
Probability (tht an Item chosen fr inspection) =0.1
Probability (Item is Defective) = 0.15
First 10 items pass thro' the table such tht no report of defective items is given. Find the probability tht out of the 10 passed, 3 were defective.
It says tht 5% of "all the bulbs manufactured" are defective.....
Like if 500 were made in all, defective = 25. But tht doesn't preferably mean tht each lot of 100 has exactly 5 defective..
ans 2> coeff of x180 in (x1 + x2 +x3 +x4 +x5 + x6 )60
= coeff of x174 in (1-x6)60 (1-x)-6
= 60C0 . 233C174 + 60C2 . 197C138 - 60C1 . 227C168
WELL, I SUPPORT YOUR ANSWER FOR Q1 !
i will try the other ones later on !
yaar....in the third one,,,there is a bit of vagueness.....it says that you pass 10 items through the table and report that no defective item is there ! then how can you find the prob of 3 being defective ? you have already said that none are defective !!! [2] [2]
I think it this way, ki maan lo there were 3 defective in tht lot of 10, but the ones tht might have been chosen fr inspection (prob. =0.1), might have been the undefective one.....so in this activity the 3 defective ones might have passed the inspection table unidentified...!
