@aditya:can u pls explain the 2nd qstn????
1. If p,q,r are real nos.
a. max(p,q)<max(p,q,r)
b. min(p,q)=1/2{p+q-mod(p-q)}....mod stands for modulus
c. max(p,q)<min(p,q,r)
d. none of the above
2.f(x)= cos(x) +cos(√2x) ['x' is not within root]
Find the no. of values of x where the function attains its maximum
a. 0 b. 1
c. 2 d. infinite
give the solutions pls....

1. in option b,
let p>q
hence lhs = q
rhs =1/2{p+q-mod(p-q)}
= 1/2(p+q-p+q) ...(since mod(p-q)=p-q)
= q
for q<p,
lhs=p
rhs =1/2(p+q-q+p)
= p
hence for all cases this is true. therefore ans. is b
2. ans. should be ∞ as the curve will have infinite maximas.
in the 2nd question for maximum value of f(x) (which is 2) no. of times will be 1.
see
f(x)max =2 at x=0
as
x increases/decreases f(x) will never be =2
