Let the angle contained bet base and hypoteneuse be x, so if the circum-circle's radii be 'r', then hypoteneuse BC=2r, A=90 deg....
AB=2rsinx, AC=2rcosx, area = r2sin2x, max when 2x=90, meaning x has to be 45 deg, thus triangle has to be isosceles...
