try to see the circle on a graph and try to see the chord that will subtend and equal lenght on x and y axis!!

look the radius of the circle is √8 and its centre is (0,0).....
so alond the x-axis it will will have √8 and along the y axis also same........ so this will make a right angles triangle with the chord.....and the chord will be the hypotenuse.......
so from pythagoras thm........ √(8+8)=√16=4.....
