for other prob of std parabola...
1) find the normal eqn ....
2) put perpendicular to axis =0 .
The set of points on the asix of the parabola 2((x-1)2+(y-1)2)=(x+y)2. , from which 3 distinct normals can be drawn to the parabola , is the set of points (h,k) lying on the axis of the parabola such that
a) h>3
b) h>3/2
c) k>3/2
d) k>3
arey bhai i was keen to help u
but the shifting of axis of parabola is not in the syllabus of JEE 2009
for other prob of std parabola...
1) find the normal eqn ....
2) put perpendicular to axis =0 .
Hint: Partial solution
this equation above is same as
(x-y)2 -4(x+y) +4 =0
so you can take the new coordinate system as
X= x-y
Y= x+y-1
Now can you solve it?
