I had the same questions regarding how good Amity is. Here are your answers -:
It's the name of the university that appears on your Btech degree that matters, in this sense, because Amity univ can be done through either private or IP. If you do through IP, the name of "IP University" will appear on your Btech degree(which is far more advantageous).
Also, Amity on its own is not AICTE approved. So you can decide for yourself how it is. In a nutshell, if you want to do your Btech through Amity and have no other choice available, do it via IP.
Two of my friends were badly trying to persuade me to do my Btech from Amity. They're going to do business and law respectively from there. Those fields are fine, but the engineering field is not so well-developed there. If you want to do a partial drop and give JEE, AIEEE, etc again next year, Amity is an absolute waste of your money. Fees exceeding one lakh for the first year. You'd rather do a BSc course in a DU college, if you are partial dropping. This they don't understand and were cribbing about. I do appreciate how old friends like them and I would be together under one campus, but my career takes precedence over that.
I have heard a nice saying regarding universities like Amity - "Empty vessels make the most noise". You don't see IITs or NITs frequently trying to advertise themselves. Not even BITS. And you know their standard. And I don't know how long it(Amity) will last, because its owners have been involved in a number of hushed up high-profile frauds. They have been supposedly escaping justice through politicians and money.
My sincere advice : Choose Amity only if you have absolutely nothing else left.
