JESH SORRY TO COMMENT ON U
BUT THIS WAY U WONT REACH ANYWHERE
TAKE UR OWN DECISIONS
THE BOOK WHICH U THINK IS USEFUL 4 U
USE IT
IF U UNDERSTAND BETTER WITH ANY BOOK IT IS NOT ESSENTIAL THAT THE OTHER ALSO FIND THAT LOOK INTERESTING
DONT PONDER MUCH UPON THE BOOKS
JUST MAKE UR CONCEPTS CLEAR AND IMPROVE UR BASICS
AND IN THE END U MUST BE ABE TO SOLVE PROBLEMS[1]
FIITJEE RSM ..............................................
nothin beats it .........[but poor basic concepts so NCERT also req,]
Arihant subjective .. just don't follow anyone's advice .. make a decision .. follow manipal's post 3
TAKE UR OWN DECISIONS
THE BOOK WHICH U THINK IS USEFUL 4 U

I personally like A Dasgupta.. but many ppl find it tough.. but then it is a very good book if you can have some faith in your abiilities and solve a lot of problems from that book...
I dont like TMH because it kills the thinking ability of the students (all solutions are given in there!)
ML Khanna is also a decent book.. It has way too many problems.. But then even A Dasgupta does have a lot of problems!
in MLKhanna just do the starred questions . they cover some important methods others are routine .
and ADasgupta is a very good book . I started that bcoz of Nishant . plz take his advice. helps a lot
Das Gupta is a good book provided you are strong in your concepts.
Think of books for Practice only after your basics are strong,so first get a grip over NCERT b4 goin 4 NE of the above books.
Once ur concepts R strong and U can think a bit, problem solving is not a very tough task.

Kalyan.. i differ with your opinion..
It is not about concepts
tell me how many concepts you know in whole of functions, Quadratic equations and AP, GP, HP together?
Hardly 5-6
Maths is not about concepts... it is about practice...
Have courage and confidence... you wlll be able to solve A Dasgupta..
I know many guys whom I have made to solve that book.. and not too many of them "repent" their decision to solve that book... No doubt it is tough .. but then you have to give it all...
FIrst 1 month you will feel that you are dying.. but slowly you will get used to that book :)
As mani said u wont reach anywhere by our opinions.........
but still making mine............
ML Khanna is a very good book............contains so many problems of all levels.......so if u do that book honestly without just looking at the soln then i think it will be enuf.........
go for another book if and only if u have 3-4 months with u.....
ANother book could be TMH or A dasgupta if u need practice.......
but if u need to strengthen ur concepts further after doing a lot of practice in ML......then go for KD Joshi.......it is a brilliant book.......not many here will know about that.......but it is my sincere advice to read that if u want to master ur concepts.......That book just solves the previous year questions by doing post mortem....i.e by explaining every small point about that question and explaining innovative methods to solve a question..........
it awares u about possible mistakes..............
In the end ........JUST TAKE A DECISION .........[1][1]
dat's actually ur own decision.but i suggest to go through simple problems n try 2 understand them rather than doin lots of problems without understanding.for another book u must go for TMH
i personally refer TMH now, previously i use to solve A.Das Gupta. but didn't find it that good. now with TMH, i feel satisfied (to a large extent). (i haven't gone through the other books u mentioned, so i can't comment anything on them.)
but mainly, have a strong grip over concepts and various applications of formulae (within jee level) and later on, always be open to solve new problems. lyk, don't restrict ur mind by saying that i can only solve Level 1 problems, it's better to ask someone directly about Level 2 problems than wasting time solving them.! this thought will make ur concepts weak and u will lose ur confidence and interest soon.!
don't get tensed/tempted while solving a problem. first convince urself that u know all the formulae related to the topic (dont just convince, make sure that u really have a good grip over them) and then solve problems with peaceful mind.
and one more important thing, don't give up any methods unless u confirm that it's wrong, don't just leave it in the middle thinking that ur approach may be wrong or it may be too lengthy or something else. b'coz, when u approach ur sir or ur friend for the solution, u must be sure that all the methods u have tried aren't leading u to the final answer. so that u can stop ur friend/sir trying the same method again and wasting ur time. it also assures ur friend/sir that u haven't asked it casually. u r really in need of solution and they will help u with much more interest.
Maths is the only subject where u can do whatever u wish to (as u don't see any practical picture in ur mind while solving a maths problem, which limits u from thinking). so enjoy solving it.
All d best :)
well eureka has mentioned K D Joshi . do you read that book ???
it's quite good but one would be better of doing Dasgupta or MLK .
see why I'm saying this is the book is good for improving your thinking level . but it discusses problems for pages .and it's not for IIT - JEE . the author himself says so .
the one thing in that you can read is the GOOD BYE JEE ! how they set papers how mcuh fun IIT's are and all . that's in the starting and ending part of the book
so better to read it when your free i.e the maths part
for inspiration read the starting and ending and don't forget for JEE practice helps a lot more.
A DAS GUPTA.....1000 on 100 for d bookk....after u solve it once...i bet u will not only feell confident..but extra[not over plz] confident to face any problem...
@srinath....... i just referred to KD Joshi ....if jesh wanted to get indepth basics.........becoz he would already have solved about7000 questions from ML........
It is my personal opinion that KD Joshi is a wonderful book...........and i read it for 3 months(SEP-NOV).......after that only practice
