VA-VB =( VA- VD) + (VD -VB)

= Q1/C1 + (Q-Q1)/C2

Suitably frame the equations to eliminate Q1 from the equation and get the eq. capacitance as Q/VA-VB

no need to do what organic has done here..

the first observation is that C1 and C2 are in parallel so the effective capacitance will be C1+C2

THen there are two such combinations in series.

Hence, the capacitance will be (C1+C2)/2
