there are 4 concentric shells A,B,C,D, OFradii a,2a,3a,4a resp. shells B & D are given charges +q & -q resp. shell C is now earthed .the potential diff. VA-VC

11Maybe this is a stupid question, but still-------
How can the spheres B, C, D which are enclosing the sphere A, induce charge on A??? No electric field lines, due to the charges on the outer spheres will cut A, and so, I think charge induced on A will be zero, contrary to skygirl's initial assumption.
I might be wrong. I would request richa, skygirl, Nishant sir, or anyone else to explain.
