k first tell me wat do u think exactly wat electric POTENTIAL is???

The electric potential is kQ/R

The Electric Field inside in the conductor (metallic sphere ) is 0. Therefore rate of change of potential is 0. therefore the potential is constant the potential at the surface will be the potential at any point inside the sphere

why poential is constant inside the sphere? V=kq/r......................r is not same at evry point inside sphere

@sumit : u have got a wrong conception, what cirang has said is correct.

it is constant because electric field is 0 inside a sphere.

so V should be constant.

electric fieldis zero..........so why cant potential be zero too!!!!

Dr.House ·

E=\frac{dV}{dr}

so if E=0 then \frac{dV}{dr}=0
this means V is a constant

i suggest u better read up this electrostatics topic from HC VERMA and NCERT.

sumit.......why poential is constant inside the sphere? V=kq/r......................r is not same at evry point inside sphere
here V=kq/R...wher R = radius of d sphere.....

V=kq/R.........if r<R
V=kq/r..........if r>R
