IIT JEE past questions Salt analysis

When a white crystalline compound X is heated with K2Cr2O7 and concentrated H2SO4 a reddish brown gas A is evolved. On passing A into caustic soda solution, a yellow coloured solution of B is obtained.
Neutralizing the solution B with acetic acid and on subsequent addition of lead acetate, a yellow precipitate C is obtained. When X is heated with NaOH solution, a colourless gas is evolved and on passibn this gas into K2HgI4 solution, a reddish brown precipitate D is formed.

Identify A<B<C< D< X

give the equations involved.

Equations:-
4NH4Cl + K2Cr2O7 + 3H2SO4 → 2(NH4)2SO4 + K2SO4 + 2CrO2Cl2
X A

CrO2Cl2 +NaOH → Na2CrO4 + 2H2O +2NaCl
A B

Na2CrO4 + (CH3COO)2Pb →PbCrO4 + 2CH3COONa
B C

3NaOH + NH4Cl + 2K2HgI4 → HgO.Hg(NH2)I + 4KI + 3NaI + HCl
X D
