in the two cases shown
if we are asked energy of the first one we would answer 1/2mv2
for the other case we would answer 1/2I(v2/R2) where I is moment of inertia about O and v is velocity .
A is any point on the sphere in first case it remains towards us
and in other case it goes inwards after completing a half circle

hey but thats where the problem begins if the sphere is given an angular velocity about one of its own axis how are we to know whether we would write energy as 1/2I1ω12+1/2I2ω22
like that irodov question in which you said it was a combination of two pure rotations
or
1/2 mv2 + 1/2Iw2
