the effective radius will be r+L/2 cos θ

also the force inwards will be F

so F=mv2/(r+L/2 cos θ)

also, mg=N

and F=μmg

now i think we can find theta in terms of all the other variables :)

i ve caught byah 10 times making mistakes and he has caught be 100 times !!!

the boy must tilt at an angle to balance torque

find the inclination of the boy and the new FBD etc! ;)

dude.. there is no tension on the boy due to rod

tension is the property of the rod.. it is internal to the rod

same with hand...

there is only frictin

the boy is catching the thing with his hand..

so the force on the merry go round will only be friction

tension will be in the hand of the boy

here is the question says that the boy is vertical then tehre is no probelm

but if the boy was to slant due to rotation by an angle then the answer would have changed!
