Is the answer,∂=√(2u^2-2gl) ?
A stone is tied to a string of length l and whirled in a circular path. The speed of the stone at the lowest point is u.Find the magnitude of change in velocity when the string is horizontal? let velocity when string is horizontal be v.
Then (1/2)mu^2+0=(1/2)mv^2+mgl. v=(u^2-2gl)^(1/2) and change is v-u.
But answer is different.

Well ..find the velocity by energy conservation and since in question its given to find change in velocity then you have to apply vector subtraction method.
