total energy of ball and earth is not conserved,bcos after collison some part of the energy is dissipated into the universe.
Q A ball hits the floor and rebounds after an inelastic collision.
a)The momentum of ball just after colision is same as before collsion
b)teh mech energy of ball remains conserved in teh collision
c)the total momentum of ball and earth is conserved
d)thetotal energy of ball and earth is conserved
Answer is given c only...but shouldnt it be c&d both ?

momentum remains conserved on both elastic and inelastic collisions but kinetic energy is not conserved in inelastic collisions so msp is right....that total kinetic energy is not conserved...but the total momentum is conserved!!!!
so the correct answer is (c) only!!
here i am not talking abt total Kinetic energy
its total energy in option d)
total energy=mech+elec+nuclear+thermal+...........
@pratikshit
total energy is always conserved......energy in its several forms is always conserved.........energy does not only include mechanical energy.....but all types....
are u sure eureka its total energy only in option (d) if it is so then u guys are right it should be both (c) and (d)!!
@pratikshit
its written in option d)
the total energy of ball and earth is conserved
had it been kinetic energy it would have been specified.....[1][1]
