39eureka, if that is only one polaroid, rotating that one polaroid does not change intensity of light in anyway. It is the analyser's rotation that changes intensity. So we do not observe any change.
And the diode question, is it
In positive half cycle, diode will be forward biased, and will conduct corresponding to the output waveform. It doesn't conduct in reverse bias.
