is it because we have the earth's curving
and earth's distance from equator decreases by 5 metres when we travel 8 km from the north pole?

if we consider earth and the people as a system as there is no external force acting if we move by 8km.in order to make the center of mass at origin i think the earth moves by 5 meters

i think its obviously due to the curvature of the earth

if the earth would have been flat the earth (or ground) would not have "fallen"

This is what i meant

if this is correct there is just one more thing left to be done !
