Please show that for a perfectly elastic head on collision of a ball of mass 'm' with another ball of mass 'km' , initially at rest , the energy lost by the former is maximum when k = 1.

one direct way of thinking it is that
during elastic collision head on between two bodies of equal mass they exchange their velocities . thus when k=1 the body initially moving moving will come to a stop thus K.E=0 . maximum loss .
