Please make the following terms very clearly. I am not understanding them from books...
* Yield point
* yield strength
* permanent set
* plastic deformation
* tensile strength
* fracture point
* proportional limit
Pls give some very simple and straightforward explanation. I am in much trouble understanding these from books :(

The yield strength or yield point of a material is defined as the stress at which a material begins to deform "plastically". below the yield point, the material will deform elastically and will return to its original shape when the applied stress is removed.
Once the yield point is passed some fraction of the deformation will be permanent and non-reversible.
