irodov sum

there s this sum from irodov in 1.184 there is a chain witha length l-h inside a the tube or table and the res part is touching the floor kkk

find the vel of the last bit of the chain as it falls down

my doubt is not how to ifnd the vel it is my doubt is that whether differnt parts of the chain hv differnet vel or not and as from the question it looks then why as we hv learnt that objects that are in cotnact with each other v same vel?????

no obviously the full chain will have the same velocity at a time but as time passes due to acceleration, the velocity of the full chain as a whole would increase....

but i think after faling on the ground the part of the chain will hv 0 vel ??????? am i rite???

yes varun you are right..

There will be normal reaction and gravity acting on the chain in different ways..

There are slightly better theories which explain how the design of the chain will effect the answer.. in the sense that whether the chain is taken as a set of infinite rings or what... but i guesss that will probably be asking too much.. (

(in the sense that will the colission with the ground be perfectly elastic or inelastic... )

kkk let me put a more genral question solve the sum
i was trying the simple work energy theorem as the work done by the normal force is 0 as th pnt of application of the force has 0 displacement but it is not wrking then it leaves other option left that the chain in the tube also has differnt vel from the rest but wont the chain den break??????
