IIT JEE 2015 Help › Mechanics questions › Laws of Motion doubt!

Q. A boy with a mass of 70kg is standing on a bathroom scale in a lift which is accelerating upwards at 3m/s². Calculate the resultant force on the boy.

Ans: 210 N

Shouldn't the resultant force be 910 N?

even i was mislead by the question

and that is due to our bad habit of reading half the question and speculating what the rest half of the question might be...

on looking carefully i saw the word resultant force not reaction force(normal reaction) :P
