liquids in motion

a cubical open vessel of diameter 5m is filled with a liquid The vessel is accelerated horizontally in such a way that the height of the liquid becomes 5m and the pressure at the mid point of the vessel becomes equal to the atmospheric pressure Then the acceleration of the vessel is??

Please solve it also

haha ha .. please tell me am i correct .. don't talk about vapour state ...

[9]@ strider aka ani.........

water will boil off only when its vapour pressure = atm pres.

hydrostatic pressure infact will always be somewhat > atm pres
so according to you water exists only in vapour state haha

aise khamosh mat baitho ... am i correct !!

now the pressure at pt . C is Po .. or
Po + ρg(h - 5/2) = Po
h = 5/2

now ..
( 5 - h ) / ( 5/2 ) = tanθ = a/g

tanθ = 1 .... a = g .. acceleration is equal to acceleration due to gravity ...

"pressure at the mid point of the vessel becomes equal to the atmospheric pressure"

sorry for the silly doubt.....but if the pressure is equal to the atmospheric pressure, then won't the liquid boil off (that's what i read in chem)??? Pls forgive my stupidity and try to reply without bashes and harsh words.....

"height of the liquid becomes 5m" wont the liquid have variable height? is it maximum height of liquid?

1
karan9989 gupta ·

actually it means the length of cubical box
