ANYBODY PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!
A small ball of mass m is released from a height R above the surface ot the earth surface as shown. If the maximum depth of the ball to which it goes into the earth is R/2 through a narrow grove before coming to rest momentarily. The grove is fitted with an ideal spring of spring constant K and natural length R, then K is? R is radius of earth and M is mass of earth.

i cant see ur writing
but i got ans D
-GMm/2R=-GMm/(R/2)+(1/2)k(R^2/4)
i think u can take it from there :)
IN RHS ITS CORRECT BUT IN LHS I THINK THAT THE POTENTIAL ENERGY SHOULD BE
(potential at R/2*the mass)
that is it should be
if we solve it furthur we get A as the answer!!!!!!
why is the answer wrong by this method!!!!!!!!!!
