assertion: A hydrogen filled balloon stops rising after it has attained a certain height in the sky                                    reason: the atmospheric pressure decreases with height and becomes zero when maximum height is attained                               ans given is (b) But i think reason is wrong Please correct me                   Â

actually the reason why it stops is pressure inside is equal to pressure outside.

karan, why do u think reason is wrong? can u explain?

yes reason is wrong because the atmospheric pressure doesn't become zero.. when the balloon stops rising... It is because the weight of the balloon is balanced by the buoyant force which reduces with height due to decrease in air density.... initially, the buoyant force was more hence it was rising upwards.

So... i think ans will be (c)

same do i think as asish because atmospheric pressure is not zero but we can say net force and hence net pressure is zero also can you tell that after sufficient time the balloon starts coming down why does that happen
