There is not too much of a difference...

It is almost the same... forward or backward slipping...

Only thing is you should think in terms of relative slipping.. which direction the surface is slipping with respect to other surface...
And think that friction will oppose this motion.. This way of thinking will make life easier for you :)

Thinking of forward and backward can sometimes only make a simple thing more complex..
